
Thomas Hartshorn — Laborer with Custom Pallet and Mulch
A graduate of West Middlesex High School in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, Thomas Hartshorn worked in Norfolk, Virginia, from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. After leaving Norfolk’s Norshipco Shipbuilding in 1995 as a marine thermo technician, he returned to West Middlesex and accepted a product preparer position with the Dairy Farmers of America. Thomas Hartshorn remained with Dairy Farmers of America for more than a quarter of a century, becoming a master whey technician who oversaw the production of roughly 320 gallons of whey per minute.
Since retiring from Dairy Farmers of America in 2021, Mr. Hartshorn has worked as a laborer with Custom Pallet and Mulch. Located about 20 minutes south of West Middlesex in the town of New Castle, this company is a source of both shipping pallets and landscape mulch. Mr. Hartshorn’s daily responsibilities include the operation of forklifts, pneumatic nail guns, and several types of electric saws.
